Congratulations Ferny Grove High Teachers

I spoke to the English Department at Ferny Grove State High School last week and was very impressed with their approach. They recognise the benefit of presentation skills to their students and have a great commitment to helping their students achieve in this area with clearly focussed speaking assignments.
I mentioned that in many school, the oral assignments seem to have become a repository of a number of different tasks. I likened it to trying to teach someone how to ride a horse and play polo atthe same time. For example, giving an oral presentation, a role play (of a marginalised voice) and a literary critique all at the same time.
The Ferny Grove SHS teachers agreed and said in their oral tasks, they tried to keep the task simple and clearly targetted...lucky students!
